ONLINE Release of ‘THE MEETING’

Some peace processes happen behind closed doors. Others happen beneath the shade of a tamarind tree.

We are pleased to share the online release of The Meeting, a documentary that follows the community-led peace process across Jonglei and the Greater Pibor Administrative Area. Filmed during the sixth session of the Intercommunal Governance Structures (ICGS) in Pibor, the film brings together chiefs, youth leaders, women and local authorities from the Murle, Dinka Bor, Lou Nuer and Gawaar Nuer communities as they choose dialogue over revenge in one of South Sudan's most challenging conflict contexts.

The film offers an honest insight into the realities of peacebuilding, tracing the journey from the Pieri Agreement in 2021 through to this sixth session of the Inter-Communal Governance Structures. It captures both moments of breakthrough and moments of setback, showing that lasting peace is built through patience, trust and the determination of communities to keep returning to the table, even when progress is difficult.

We are proud to have accompanied this journey alongside communities and our partners through the Peacebuilding Opportunities Fund. We invite you to watch the film and hear directly from the people who continue to shape a more peaceful future for South Sudan.
