When Peace Walks: Reopening roads, rebuilding trust
Across Jonglei and the Greater Pibor Administrative Area, roads are far more than physical infrastructure. They are lifelines that connect communities to markets, services and one another. In February 2026, Peace Canal joined community leaders, youth, women, chiefs and local authorities on an ambitious mission to reopen two key road corridors, demonstrating that peace is built not only through dialogue, but by walking together, restoring relationships and creating the conditions for safe movement and cooperation. The initiative forms part of the wider partnership with the Peacebuilding Opportunities Fund, supporting locally led peacebuilding across South Sudan.
